Safari Overview
Selous is one of the largest game reserve areas in Africa and is a beautiful and majestic place. The game reserve has a large number of animals and birds including lions, elephants, giraffes, and the African buffalo. Selous also provides more activities compared to other parks. These include a bush walk safari, boat safari, game drive, and camping safari. A boat safari in the Rufiji River in the afternoon is another great way of game viewing. This park is now known as Nyerere National Park.

Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1:Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve and Boat Safari Adventure in Rufiji River
A Connect African Safaris tour guide will drive you from Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve (now known as Nyerere National Park). It will take approximately 5-6 hours to arrive. Late afternoon, you will head out for a boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. You will discover the Rufiji River by boat, and encounter hippos and crocodiles in large numbers. You will also see almost 350 of the bird species that have been recorded in this game reserve. The birdlife is supported by the Rufiji River swampland. You will return to the camp for a hot bath and dinner at Africa Safari Selous Lodge.
Day 2:Full game drive
This is a full day of game-drive enjoyment and it will begin after your breakfast. You will enjoy your morning game drive when the animals come out in search of food. Continue with the game drive with a packed lunch box till sunset. This will enable you to experience the authenticity and beauty of African wildlife. Selous Game Reserve is the largest in Africa, covering 54,600 square kilometers. The reserve is famous for its many elephants. You will also see lion, wild dog, buffalo, bushbuck, impala, eland, baboon, zebra and greater kudu. Excursions by 4×4 vehicles allow you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of the park.
In the afternoon, you will have a picnic lunch break where your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink and the sounds of birds singing and chirping – a place with a clear view all around. Dinner & overnight will be at Africa Safari Selous. The food here is very good.
Day 3: Morning Walk and the Journey Back to Dar es Salaam
Wake up at around 6:00 am for an early morning sunrise walking safari with an armed ranger in the heart of Nyerere Park (with packed breakfast).
