Safari Overview
East Africa rewards the curious, and a Kenya Tanzania safari rewards them twice over. Six days that carry you from the golden grasslands of the Masai Mara, across the Tanzanian border on the very path the wildebeest walk, into the boundless Serengeti, and finally down into the ancient caldera of the Ngorongoro Crater. This is the East African circuit at its most thrilling, distilled into less than a week.
Safaris Without Borders has been threading these routes for over 20 years, guided by a single philosophy: let the wildlife lead. With 220 five-star TripAdvisor reviews, we know how to make these six days extraordinary.

Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Departure to Maasai Mara, Kenya's Wildlife Crown Jewel
Your Kenya Tanzania safari begins with the drive west from Nairobi into the Rift Valley, the landscape widening and the air cooling as you descend toward Mara country. Ask your driver to stop where the views demand it — they often do. Lunch en route, then into the reserve in the afternoon. If the light holds, your first evening game drive unfolds across amber grasslands as the sun meets the horizon. The Mara welcomes you the way it always does: without ceremony, without restraint.
Overnight: Masai Mara lodge/camp | Full Board
Day 2: After the Africa Big Five and the Wildebeest Migration
A full day inside one of Africa’s most storied reserves. Morning drives in the Mara are extraordinary: lion prides stir at dawn, cheetahs scan the plain from termite mounds, and the grasslands fill with giraffe, buffalo, zebra, and antelope moving in quiet procession. If you’re here during migration season, the river crossings are something words struggle to contain: thousands of wildebeest launching themselves into crocodile-filled water, driven by something older and deeper than instinct. An afternoon to rest, then back out for the evening golden hour.
Overnight: Masai Mara camp | Full Board
Day 3: Crossing over to Serengeti, endless wildlife plains
Today, you cross into Tanzania the right way. The route to Serengeti passes through the Sirari/Isebania border, the same crossing point the wildebeest herds use on their ancient loop between Kenya and Tanzania. There is something quietly moving about following that path. A picnic lunch in the bush, and by late afternoon you arrive at your Serengeti camp as the light turns gold over the plains.
Overnight: Serengeti camp/lodge | Full Board
Day 4: Spend the exploring huge concentration of wildlife
The endless plains. The Serengeti earns its name — siringet, “the place where the land runs on forever” — and a full day here begins to explain why. Your Serengeti and Ngorongoro safari starts in earnest on these vast grasslands, where over 4 million animals make their home: hyena clans, topi herds, cheetahs at full sprint, and the big cats that make the Serengeti legendary. More than 500 bird species fill the skies and shorelines. Morning drive, afternoon drive, and the particular silence that falls over the Serengeti at dusk.
Overnight: Serengeti camp/lodge | Full Board
Day 5: Discover a wildlife haven and UNESCO Heritage Site
The drive from the Serengeti to Ngorongoro builds slowly, the highlands rising around you until the crater rim appears and the scale of what lies below genuinely stops the breath. At 2,500 feet deep and 14.5 kilometres wide, Ngorongoro is a collapsed volcano that became its own world — and it holds the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa within its walls. Lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, hippos, and the rare black rhino all share the crater floor. Flamingos gather at the soda lake. Vultures ride the thermals overhead. This is among the finest Big Five destinations on the continent.
Overnight: Ngorongoro area lodge | Full Board
Day 6: Return to Nairobi
After a final breakfast, your transfer to Arusha connects you onward to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport — and home, carrying the weight of what you’ve seen in the best possible way.
