From $695 per person

This 3-day Masai Mara safari delivers Kenya’s quintessential wildlife experience—three days focused entirely on Africa’s most famous game reserve where wildlife concentrations exceed anywhere else on the continent. No park-hopping, no rushing, no distractions. Just you, the endless golden plains of the Masai Mara, and some of Earth’s greatest wildlife spectacles.

Your Masai Mara safari from Nairobi begins with a scenic 5-6 hour drive descending into the Great Rift Valley, travelling through Maasai pastoralist lands where red-robed warriors tend their cattle beneath endless skies, arriving at the legendary 1,510 km² Masai Mara National Reserve. This isn’t just Kenya’s premier wildlife destination—it’s one of the world’s most extraordinary natural ecosystems, hosting over 95 mammal species and providing the stage for the Great Migration’s dramatic Mara River crossings (July-October).

This Big Five safari Kenya delivers what travellers dream about: massive lion prides lounging on kopjes, cheetahs perched on termite mounds scanning for prey, leopards draped across fig tree branches, enormous elephant families moving in slow procession, and Cape buffalo in their thousands. Add Nile crocodiles lurking in the Mara River, hundreds of hippos wallowing in pools, graceful giraffes browsing acacia tops, and if visiting migration season—over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebras covering the plains in an endless tide of hooves.

Your private 4×4 safari Land Cruiser features sliding open windows and a pop-up roof for ideal game viewing and photography. Your professional driver-guide knows every corner of the reserve, positioning you for extraordinary encounters that casual visitors miss. Three full days mean proper immersion—time to witness dawn breaking over the savannah, midday wildlife activity at waterholes, and golden-hour magic when the light transforms everything it touches.

Daily departures from Nairobi. Fully customizable accommodations from budget camping to luxury lodges. This is the 3-day Masai Mara safari that delivers Africa exactly as you imagined it.

The only time to avoid Kenya is during the long rainy season in April and May. November is considered the short rainy season, however, these are less predictable and are much lighter. The best time of year to visit the Maasai Mara is during the Great Wildebeest Migration which tends to pass through the Mara between mid July to late October.

Day by Day

Your safari adventure begins with morning pickup (7:00-8:00 AM) from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Depart in your private 4×4 Land Cruiser heading southwest toward the legendary Masai Mara. The scenic 5-6 hour drive descends dramatically into the Great Rift Valley—stop at the famous viewpoint where the valley floor spreads below, framed by volcanic peaks. This geological wonder stretches from Jordan to Mozambique and is visible from space.

Continue through the Maasai town of Narok and across pastoralist lands where you’ll see traditional manyattas (Maasai homesteads) and cattle being herded across open plains. The landscape gradually transforms from highland forests to rolling savannah as you approach the reserve. Arrive at your camp or lodge around 1:00-2:00 PM for lunch and check-in. Choose from budget tented camps with comfortable beds and en-suite facilities, mid-range lodges with swimming pools, or luxury tented camps with four-poster beds and private verandas overlooking the plains.

After settling in, depart for your first afternoon game drive (3:30-6:30 PM) when temperatures cool and wildlife becomes most active. The Mara delivers immediately: herds of wildebeest and zebra grazing peacefully, elephants browsing acacia trees, giraffes silhouetted against the setting sun. Your guide tracks fresh lion spoor, positions the vehicle beside cheetah families, and explains the ecosystem dynamics that make this reserve so extraordinary. Visit the Mara River where massive Nile crocodiles bask on banks and hippos wallow in their hundreds, grunting and yawning as dusk approaches.

Return to camp as darkness falls, the African sky exploding with stars you’ve never seen from cities. Dinner around the campfire with fellow travellers sharing the day’s sightings, the distant roar of lions echoing across the plains.
